Last Sunday we did the last wiring to the electronic ignition, checked the beast over and put the cowls on. Kev was in the pilot seat and I was in the back – we started the engine and after a warm up we did some taxi runs. We found a few glitches that need fixing, we need to adjust the idle speed and we had a problem with the intercom – so we’ll do that over the next week or so while we wait for the paperwork to be finalised. We expect it all to be done by the end of next week, fingers crossed and then we can at last take to the air. We are planning a rather large hanger party to celebrate the first flight!
I promise I’ll post more pictures next week – I got all excited and forgot I had a camera!!

Last year a fabulous RV8 came on the market and we snapped it up – It was built by our long time good friend, Rod Bower in Visalia, California. Rod reluctantly offered it for sale as he has too many toys to play with and he decided to offer it to someone who would give it a good home. Since we have had it in Australia we have added a new autopilot, Infinity stick grip and made lots of other minor mods to turn an already fabulous, craftsman built aircraft into something really special.
The weight of the paperwork will shortly equal the weight of the plane, so when all the nuts and bolts are tightened up and we have a clean bill of health from the powers that be – we’ll go flying!. We’ll post some updated info on this blog as time goes by – here are a couple of pictures for you. Feel free to comment or ask questions

Everybody is now back from their Christmas Holidays, including me – went to the UK and played in the snow, then on to Thailand and stayed with friends in Bangkok. Nice!
We are now revving up our theory college website and we have a meeting scheduled with all the ground instructors next week.
Lenka and her staff, Jacqui and Lisa, will be organising some mail shots for next month as well as an email newsletter to all our Internet customers.
We are all very proud of Jacqui who got her helicopter CPL this month and is currently looking for flying work – so, sadly, at some stage in the not too distant future we will lose her. Whoever employs her will be lucky – we’ve offered her money, presents, nice things, anything to stay … but no, she wants to be a working pilot!

Concept has lurched into the 21st Century – we have our own blog.
There’s an awful lot happening at Concept – Our new theory college has taken off and we have a growing list of courses as well as a growing list of successful students. In 2010 we will be offering new courses such as, “English for Pilots” which aims to get students to ICAO level 5 and also a new Cockpit Resource Management course. There will be more about these on our various web sites and also on this blog.
Our manufacturing arm, Cockpit Flight Gear, has just launched it’s own web site – but you’ll have to buy in quantity to use the service, check it out, the prices are great, but you must stick to the minimum quantities.
We’re opening up in WA – our new Business Development Manager is Brenton Davis. A well known and respected aviator of many years experience. We’re looking forward to great things from WA and our customers in the regions, such as Kununurra, should get even better service now Brenton is on the job.
